Weekly Newsletter – December 5

Good Morning! We only have 20 more days till Christmas! That was the reminder I got from students this morning, and I still haven’t started my Christmas shopping. Things are going to be crazy 🙂 Here are a few things to know for this week.

What We Are Learning:

English: This week we are continuing to work on plural nouns. We are focusing on irregular plural nouns. We will be having a noun quiz on Thursday.

Bible: We are continuing to work our way through the Jesse Tree. We are having so much fun with this!

Reading: This week we are learning about onomatopoeia! We are going to be drawing comic strips to help us understand this reading concept. We are also learning about compound words.

Math: We are learning sevens and eights this week. Students are doing so well with their multiplication tests! I am so proud of them. Keep studying hard! We will have a timed test tomorrow and Friday.

Science: This week we are doing a short unit over the scientific method. We are going to be doing some Christmas themed experiments and activities to learn about this.

Writing: We are continuing to work on paragraphs and building our writing skills. This week we are going to be writing about the best present we have ever received and why it was so great!

Spelling: We do have a spelling test this week. The words this week are all compound words.

Bible Verse and Spelling Words:

This Week’s Verse: Luke 2: 15 – When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

Next Week’s Verse: Luke 2:16-17 – So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child…

Odds and Ends:

Christmas Trees: Wooster Christian is selling Christmas Trees at the Buehler’s Milltown location. This is a great way to support our school! Contact the office if you are willing to help sell trees.

Auction Baskets: Information about our class auction basket went home a few weeks ago. We have the chocolate lovers basket! Supplies are due towards the end of January, but I just wanted to plant the bug in your ear now!

Christmas Program: Mark your calendars! The elementary school music program is December 15. Students will need to be in the classroom at 6:45. Girls need to wear a nice dress, skirt, or dress pants. Boys need to wear nice pants and nice shirt. Please no jeans or sweatpants. Remember to bring cookies for the reception afterwards!

Christmas Break: Our break is December 22-January 2.

Christmas Party: Our class party will be December 21 at 2:30. You are welcome to join!

Box Tops: As we head into Christmas, please remember to collect box tops off of all that yummy food you are eating! Also, we are collecting Coke Rewards now. Send in bottle caps from any Coke product. If you drink the cans, look inside the box for a Coke Rewards code!

I think that is it for this week! Hope you enjoy your Monday 🙂
