Good Morning! I would say that fall has finally hit. It was definitely a little chilly this morning! I hope you all had a great weekend. We have a busy week this week so please read carefully.
What We Are Learning:
English: This week we are learning about Hink Pinks. These are words that rhyme to describe something. For example a giant kitty is a fat cat. This is something fun we learn and then we get to do some with our grandparents on Friday!
Math: Today we took a quiz over regrouping addition and estimation. We are going to jump into subtraction this week.
Reading: This week we are starting “Ramona Quimby, Age 8.” We are reading this as a class and we have a packet and some activities we will be working on for the next few weeks. This is such a fun book and I am excited for this unit!
Bible: We are continuing the life of Abraham this week. We are adding 5 more books to our quiz this week too: Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk. Our quiz will be on Thursday this week due to Grandparents Day. We are also starting to memorize the Christmas story this week!

Odds and Ends:
Grandparents Day: This is on Friday! We love our grandparents and we are so excited to celebrate them! Please remember that in order for your student to go home with their grandparent a permission slip needs to be turned into the office. If you haven’t done that yet, please do so by tomorrow! Also, school is done at 11:30 that day and there is NO Kids Time. Please contact the office if you have any questions.
Fire Safety: Today we had a fire safety with one of the Wooster Firemen. We talked about how to safely get out of a building not only at school but at home too, and students were encouraged to talk with their parents about their safety plan.
End of the Grading Period: The first grading period ends next Friday (October 21). Report cards will be available at conferences.
Conferences: Time slot for conferences will be going home either later this week or early next week.
No School: There is no school Friday, October 28 due to a teacher in service day.
Math Olympics: Congratulations to Austin Hostetler, Josh Stoner, and Coleman Hixenbaugh! They will be representing the 3rd grade at Math Olympics this year.
Spelling Bee: Congratulations to Austin Hostetler and Josh Stoner! They will be representing the 3rd grade at the Spelling Bee this year!
I think that is it for this week! Have a great Monday!
