Good Morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Well, we are back to having 5 day weeks…what are we going to do?!? 🙂 Here are a few things to know for this week.

What We Are Learning:

English: We are working on the four types of sentences this week (Declarative, Interrogative, Imperative, Exclamatory). We do have a homework paper over this tonight so please check your child’s folder.

Math: We are wrapping up chapter 1 this week. We will be reviewing on Wednesday in class and taking a test on Thursday.

Reading: This week we are learning about comparing and contrasting in a story, and we are learning how to look for details in a story and how they help us learn.

Science: We are reviewing our science unit this week and we will be taking a quiz on Thursday. We will be moving on to Social Studies next week.

Bible: We are adding 5 more books this week (Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalm, Proverbs). We are continuing on with learning about Abraham!

Spelling: This week we are working on vowel sounds in our spelling words. Please make sure you are practicing with your student at home and that they are bringing back their homework on Tuesdays.

Bible Verse and Spelling Words:

This Week’s Verse: Matthews 5:14-15 – You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house.

Next Week’s Verse: Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Against such thing there is no law.

Spelling Words: clean, agree, teeth, dream, grain, coach, display, window, shadow, cheese, peach, braid, Sunday, float, thrown, entertain, complain, bleachers, willow, wheat. Bonus: thousand

Odds and Ends:

Eagle Cards: Wednesday is the final turn in date for Eagle Cards! Please help your student sell those cards, and don’t forget to turn everything in on Wednesday.

Midterms: These are going home on Friday. If your student is missing work I might be sending it home so it gets finished. Please be checking folders.

Handbooks: The parent/student handbook is being sent home today. Please sign the front page and return it to school by September 30th.

Fall Field Trip: We are going to the Columbus Zoo! I am so sorry that it has taken so long to get this scheduled. Schedules have been crazy. We are planning on going on October 5th, and parents are welcome. Forms will be going home later this week.

Picture Day: Third grade picture day is September 28th. Forms will be coming home soon.

I think that is it! Have a great Monday 🙂
