Good Morning! I looked at the calendar this morning and I could not believe it is the end of September! We are halfway through the first grading period and we are moving into fall. Crazy to think about. Here are a few things to know for this week.
What We Are Learning:
English: This week we are learning about conjunctions! We pulled a little Schoolhouse Rock music out and are working on conjunction trains. We also had a pop quiz over the different types of sentences.
Bible: We are continuing to learn about the life of Abraham. This week we are focusing on him settling in the promise land and God fulfilling His promise to Abraham. We will also be adding 5 more books! (Ecclesiates, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations)
Reading: This week wee are learning about prefixes and suffixes and similes and metaphors. We are also working on vocabulary words that we read in our weekly story.
Math: We are starting our next chapter in math this week. We are going to be working on addition with grouping.
Social Studies: We are starting our first social studies unit this week. One of the things we use in third grade is called “Social Studies Community Weekly.” It is a newspaper that lets us focus on different social studies lessons and teaches us about different parts of Ohio!
Spelling: This week we are focusing on the “ou” sound.
Bible Verse and Spelling Words:
This Week’s Verse: Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Against such thing there is no law.
Next Week’s Verse: Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
