Weekly Newsletter – February 17

We finally got a snow day! I hope you all enjoyed your extra long weekend and that is was relaxing. Since it is a short week there are only a few things to note, but please read carefully!

What We Are Learning:

English: This week we are learning about article adjectives. We are continuing to work on labeling sentences. I will be sending home a practice sheet this week or weekend so you can see what we are doing.

Math: We are finishing up function machines this week and doing some word problems. We are going to take a quiz on Thursday. We will have a timed test on Friday. We did not take one today.

Science: We are finishing up our unit over the planets this week. I would like to take a quiz over the unit by Friday, but I am going to remain flexible with that.

Bible: We are continuing to learn about the life of Joseph. There is no Bible Verse due this week.

Spelling: There is no spelling test this week. Just to clarify on the spelling homework. Each Monday we take a spelling pre-test. Then we correct the tests as a class. If a student gets all the words correct they do not have to take the test on Friday. For homework students must take each of the words they got wrong and copy them down three times each. They can do this on a separate sheet of paper or the same paper as the pre-test. Then the homework is due on Tuesday. If the homework is turned in and done correctly students get the 5 points. If it is turned in but not done correctly (some misspelled words, etc) then they get 3 points. If the homework is not turned in at all they do not get any points. Let me know if you have any questions!

Bible Verse and Spelling Words:

This Week’s Verse: None.

Next Week’s Verse: Psalm 23:1-2 – The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters.

Odds and Ends:

Yearbooks Order Forms: These are due on Friday. You may order online or turn the money into me or the office.

School Auction: The auction is in a week and a half! Please invite all your friends and family to join us Saturday February 27th from 9:00-12:00!

That is it for this week!

In Christ,

Mrs. Starkey
