Timed Test Schedule

Below is the schedule for the rest of our multiplication timed tests. I also wanted to remind you that it is extremely important that your student is practicing at home. We do 50 problems in 2 1/2 minutes, so it helps if you practice in that time frame. Flashcards and worksheets are very helpful! Please remember that students must get a 48/50 or higher to move onto the next test. Thank you for all your help!

Week of Jan 4: Sevens (Tuesday), Fours-Sevens Review (Friday)

Week of Jan 11: Eights (Tuesday), Nines (Friday)

Weekly Newsletter – December 7

Good Morning! I told the kids that we only have 10 more days of school before break and they were just a little excited 🙂 Christmas will do that to you. I hope you all had a great weekend! I was able to get most of my Christmas shopping and I got to hang out with my mom. Definitely a fun time! Here is what is going on this week:

What We Are Learning:

English: We are going to be learning about singular possessive nouns this week. This is a little bit of review from last year, but still very important!

Math: We are taking another timed test on Tuesday (plus one on Friday). Please be helping your child study these nightly. They have 2 and a half minutes to do 50 problems, so practice doing the facts in those 2 and a half minutes. It is so important that students are memorizing these. The best way to do this is to practice every single night.

Reading: This week we are learning about the purpose of a story and also about antonyms!

Science: We are continuing to learn about force and motion this week, and we will be wrapping this unit up before break.

Spelling: We do have a spelling test this week! We are focusing on a couple of different sounds this week. The words are listed below.

Bible: We are continuing to work our way through our Jesse Tree devotions and our What’s in the Bible movie. Students are loving the Jesse Tree!

Bible Verse and Spelling Words:

This Week’s Verse: Luke 2:16-17 – So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told to them about this child.

Next Week’s Verse: Luke 2:18-19 – and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Spelling Words: splash, throw, three, street, scream, strike, square, split, splurge, thrill, strength, squeak, throne, scratch, squeeze, squid, squander, arthritis, instrument, strategy. Bonus: jealous
