Good morning! I hope you all had a great long weekend. Can you believe we only have 3 and a half weeks until Thanksgiving? I might be one of those people who gets a little excited about both Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was so good to be able to meet with all of you last week! I love your children so much and I am so blessed to have such a great group of parents too. Here is what is happening this week:
English: We wrapped up hamburger writing last week with a paragraph that had a fall theme to it. This week we will be starting a project called “When I Grow Up…” We will be brainstorming ideas, doing a rough draft, and a final draft for this paragraph. Students have loved this in the past and I am excited for it too!
Math: We are heading towards the finish line of subtraction and regrouping. We will finish this week and then will take a test next week. I will be sending home a review sheet next week. Just as a heads up, we will be starting multiplication soon! More details and helps to come!
Reading: We are wrapping up Ramona this week! We will be having a small quiz over the second half of the book later this week.
Science: We are continuing our way through matter. I know I keep saying this and I apologize that it is taking so long to get through this chapter! It is a lot of hands on activities and last week we had vision and hearing testing and a short week which kind of threw things for a loop. I will be sending home a review sheet when we have a test. Our test will be next week.
Spelling: We do have a test this week on Friday. Words are listed at the bottom!
Bible: We are moving into the life of Isaac this week. A while back we watched the “What’s in the Bible?” that is about Genesis and it is so neat to see what they remember and the questions they ask!
Bible Verse and Spelling Words:
This Week’s Verse: Luke 2:8-9 – And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
Next Week’s Verse: Luke 2:10 – But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”
Spelling Words: sounded, count, louder, however, frown, towels, browse, surround, cloudy, crowd, power, pounds, downtown, playground, drown, outstanding, outdoors, household, different, probably. Bonus: tradition
Odds and Ends:
Box Tops: Box tops are due on Wednesday so we can get them cut and counted in time for Friday!

Many of you have done this in the past, but for those of you who haven’t, this is an organization that seeks to provide millions of Christmas gifts for children all over the world. It is something we participate in as a school! More information will be going home this week, but I just wanted to go ahead and plant the bug in your ear. Feel free to check out the website(http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/) for more information! Collections are due November 20th!
Spirit Wear: Spirit Wear forms went home in today’s folder. Check out the form for new sweatshirt and tshirt designs! We will also being having an all school spirit day on November 24th!
