Good Morning! I hope you all had a fantastic, kind of long, weekend! Grandparents Day was so much fun, and the kids did such a good job with their program. It was so fun to meet all the grandparents and I am so glad they got to come visit for the morning.
I also just wanted to take a quick moment to invite each of your families to Welcome Weekend here at Grace Church. Clayton King, a speaker from a church in South Carolina, is coming to our church this Sunday. We are so excited for him to be here and share the gospel of Jesus Christ! Whether your attend church every Sunday or haven’t been in a while, we would love for you to join us this week. You can check out woostergrace.org for more details, or shoot me an email if you have any questions!
Okay, back to school stuff. There is lots going on this week so here you go:
What We Are Learning:
English: We are working on Hamburger Writing this week. This helps us write a good paragraph! We started it two weeks ago, and we are finishing it this week.
Math: We are starting Chapter 3 today. Chapter 3 is all about subtraction and regrouping.
Reading: We are continuing to work our way through Ramona Quimby, Age 8. The kids are loving the book so far! We will be having a small quiz on Wednesday over what we have read so far.
Science: We are continuing to learn about matter this week. If your student didn’t tell you, we learned how to measure matter last week using bubble gum! Such a fun time 🙂
Spelling: We do have a test this week! The words are below.
Bible: We are taking our final Old Testament books of the Bible quiz today! We will memorize the New Testament books, but we are going to give our brains a break for a couple of weeks. We also are continuing to memorize the Christmas story, and we are working our way through the life of Abraham.
Bible Verse and Spelling Words:
This Week’s Verse: Luke 2:5 – He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
Next Week’s Verse: Luke 2:6-7 – While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was a no room available for them. (This is a long one! Please start memorizing it early!)
Spelling Words: laugh, special, school, three, strong, splinter, squeak, thrill, scratch, Christian, splashed, thread, throat, Christmas, sprinkle, shrimp, squall, shrink, struggle, spray. Bonus: fascinating
Odds and Ends:
Parent Teacher Conferences: Please check today’s folders for your scheduled time for conferences. We did our absolute best to accommodate everyone’s schedules. Conferences are 15 minutes in length, and I do my best to respect your time so they will not be any longer than that.
Report Cards: The grading period ended on Friday. Report cards will be going home later this week.
No School: We do not have school on October 30th due to a teacher in-service day.
Scholastic Book Orders: Orders are due next week if you are interested in ordering!
Box Tops: These will be due in 2 weeks. Start sending them in for the month of November!
I think that is it for this week! Have a great Monday!
