Weekly Newsletter – October 12

Good Morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The weather was so beautiful, and the Buckeyes AND the Browns won (a miracle in itself). Here is what is going on this week!

What We Are Learning:

English: We are working on Hink Pinks this week! These are things like “mad dad” and “fat cat.” They are something fun that we do for grandparents day!

Math: We are finishing up Chapter 2 this week about rounding and two and three digit addition. We will be taking a test on Thursday.

Reading: We are continuing our way through Ramona Quimby Age 8 this week. We are starting chapter 3. So far students are loving the book!

Science: We are starting a new unit this week in science over matter.

Spelling: We ARE having a test on Friday. We will be taking it before Grandparents Day begins.

Bible: We are continuing to learn about Abraham and his wife Sarah. We are also adding 4 more books to our Bible Quiz (Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi). This test will be on MONDAY (October 19th). After this we are done!! 🙂

*We will also be doing some fun things to prepare for Grandparents Day!

Odds and Ends:

Field Trip: We had a great time on our field trip on Thursday!! The weather was perfect and we got to see so many animals. Thank you to the parents who came and helped make this field trip a success.

Grandparents Day: Grandparents Day is Friday! Please remember that we have early dismissal at 11:30 that day. If your child does not have a grandparent coming they will need picked up by then. There is no Kids Time that day. There is also no bus service that day. Wooster City Schools have a two hour delay and we don’t, and we are letting out early and they are not. Please keep this in mind as you make arrangements for the day.

Parent Teacher Conferences: Forms we due on Friday. If you did not turn in your form you will be scheduled where there is an opening. Confirmations will hopefully be going home this week. I do have a few teachers I have to coordinate schedules with before I can complete things.

Fire Safety: We had so much fun at Fire Safety this morning! Be sure to ask your child what they learned today.

End of the Grading Period: Friday is the last day of the grading period! Can you believe we are a quarter of the way through the year?! Grade cards will be handed on at parent teacher conferences.

No School: We do not have school October 30th due to a teacher in-service day.

Spelling Bee: Congratulations to Micah Schlegel and Joey Clabaugh! They will be our representatives at the spelling bee this year.

I think that is it! Thanks for all you do to help your child succeed in third grade. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions!

In Christ,

Mrs. Starkey
