Weekly Newsletter – October 26

Happy 4 Day Week of School! Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday. Hope you all had a great weekend, and enjoyed some time together as a family. Here is what is going on this week:

What We Are Learning:

English: We are continuing to learn how to write a good, detailed paragraph this week. We got a little behind last week, so we will be catching up this week.

Math: We are continuing to work on subtraction and regrouping this week. We will be taking a quiz later in the week.

Reading: We are almost done with Ramona Quimby, Age 8. We have loved reading this book!

Science: Last week we did a few experiments concerning matter and we will be wrapping up that unit this week. There will be a test next week.

Spelling: We DO have a test on THURSDAY this week. The words are below.

Bible: We are continuing to learn about Abraham and Isaac this week, along with watching “What’s in the Bible?”

Bible Verse and Spelling Words:

This Week’s Verse: Luke 2:6-7 – While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was a no room available for them.

Next Week’s Verse: Luke 2:8-9 – And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

Odds and Ends:

Parent Teacher Conferences: Conferences are tomorrow night and Thursday night. Schedules were sent home last week. Conferences will be 15 minutes, and I promise I will be respectful of your time. If you have any questions let me know!

Report Card Envelopes: Report cards went home on Friday. Please make sure to send the envelopes back, signed, sometime this week.

No School: We do not have school on Friday due to a teacher in-service day.

Scholastic Book Orders: Orders are due by Thursday if you are interested in ordering!

Box Tops: Box Tops are due next Wednesday so there is enough time to get them counted and organized!

Operation Christmas Child: In chapel on Friday, we watched a video from Samaritan’s Purse about Operation Christmas Child. Many of you have done this in the past, but for those of you who haven’t, this is an organization that seeks to provide millions of Christmas gifts for children all over the world. It is something we participate in as a school! More information will be going home this week, but I just wanted to go ahead and plant the bug in your ear. Feel free to check out the website (http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/) for more information!

I think that is it for this week! Have a great Monday!

In Christ,

Good Morning! I hope you all had a fantastic, kind of long, weekend! Grandparents Day was so much fun, and the kids did such a good job with their program. It was so fun to meet all the grandparents and I am so glad they got to come visit for the morning.

I also just wanted to take a quick moment to invite each of your families to Welcome Weekend here at Grace Church. Clayton King, a speaker from a church in South Carolina, is coming to our church this Sunday. We are so excited for him to be here and share the gospel of Jesus Christ! Whether your attend church every Sunday or haven’t been in a while, we would love for you to join us this week. You can check out woostergrace.org for more details, or shoot me an email if you have any questions!
