Happy almost fall! Can you believe that we are halfway through the first grading period? Crazy to think about! We are getting into a routine now that Labor Day and Fair Week are over. It is nice to have some consistency, but I am going to miss those long weekends! Here is what is happening this week.
What We Are Learning:
English: We took a small quiz today over the four different types of sentences, and we are learning about compound sentences and conjunctions this week.
Math: We are reviewing chapter 1 today and we will be taking a test tomorrow. We are doing a review sheet in class, and they are allowed to bring that and their math book home.
Reading: We are working on prefixes, suffixes, similes, and author’s purpose this week in reading groups.
Social Studies: We are continuing to learn about maps and we will be working on learning about the compass as well!
Spelling: We do have a test on Friday and the list is below. We practice in class, but please make sure you are practicing at home!
Bible: We are working our way through the life of Abraham this week, and in our video we are learning about the books of Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. We are also adding five more books this week to our Bible quiz (Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations). We are halfway through the Old Testament! Our Bible Verse is listed below as well.
Bible Verse and Spelling Words:
This Week’s Verse: Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Against such thing there is no law. (Due 9/23)

Odds and Ends:
Eagle Cards: If you have not turned in your Eagle Cards please make sure to do so! We are only 500 short of our school goal, so if you still have some please sell them and help us get our movie party!
Box Tops: Please have all your Box Tops turned in by TUESDAY (9/29) next week. Mrs. Schlegel is in charge of box tops this year, and I want to make sure she has time to get them all cut before the turn in date (10/2).
Midterms: Midterms will be going home on Friday. Please check your child’s folder over the next few days for make up/missing work.
Field Trip: Field Trip money is due on Friday! Please make sure to get that in.
Scholastic Book Order: Book orders are due next Tuesday! If you plan on ordering books please get those submitted. If you have any questions about it please let me know!
That is it for this week! Hope you have a great Monday!
